As they chatted, Maria learned that Alex was a freelance writer who had just moved to the area to work on his first novel. He was charming, witty, and had a quick sense of humor that made Maria laugh. Before she knew it, they had been talking for over an hour, and she had almost forgotten about her work.
Despite the mishap, Alex was charming and kind, and they laughed together as they tried to clean up the mess. As the night went on, Maria found herself feeling more and more at ease. She couldn’t believe how much she enjoyed his company.
As the days went by, Maria and Alex would often run into each other while Maria was doing her rounds. They would exchange pleasantries, and Maria would find herself looking forward to these chance encounters. She couldn’t deny the attraction she felt towards Alex, but she tried to brush it off, reminding herself that she was just the housekeeper and he was the wealthy young bachelor.
“Hi, I’m Alex,” he said, extending his hand. “I’m the new guy around here. I just moved in next door.”
Their first date was a disaster. Maria had spent hours getting ready, trying on different outfits and doing her hair and makeup. But when Alex picked her up, she felt nervous and awkward. They went to a trendy coffee shop in town, and Maria spilled coffee all over her shirt.
As they finished up, Alex turned to her and said, “You know, Maria, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you. Would you like to grab a cup of coffee with me sometime?”
