The idea for “Yesterday” was born out of a conversation between director Richard Curtis and writer Jack Shindler. Curtis, known for his work on romantic comedies like “Love Actually” and “Notting Hill,” was intrigued by the concept of a world without The Beatles. Shindler, a Beatles enthusiast, shared Curtis’s passion for the band, and together they began developing the script.

The film’s central plot revolves around Jack’s journey to become a rockstar and bring The Beatles’ music back to the masses. With the help of Ellie, Jack starts performing Beatles covers at local gigs, which quickly gains him a following. As his fame grows, so does his confidence, and he begins to write his own music, inspired by the Fab Four.

The film’s production team faced several challenges, including securing the rights to use The Beatles’ music. The filmmakers worked closely with Sony Music and Apple Corps, the company founded by The Beatles, to obtain the necessary permissions.

Himesh Patel, the film’s lead actor, underwent an intense training regimen to prepare for his role. He worked with a vocal coach to master The Beatles’ songs and developed his guitar-playing skills.
